KENNEDY DANCE THEATRE BRINGS SMILES TO TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
In the spring of each year KDT puts on a formal concert dedicated to celebrating the joy of dance entitled “Enchanted Evening.” Part of the proceeds benefits a charity chosen by KDT’s renowned Ballet Mistress Milena Leben. This year Texas Children’s Hospital was chosen, and a visit was set up to bring smiles to some of the children there.
KDT’s Ballet Jete’ Company member Michelle McKay visited with many of the children handing out tiaras, autographed photos of Ballet Jete’ Company members, and even dancing with some of them. “They were so excited to tell me about their favorite styles of dance and some of them wanted to dance with me,” states McKay. “It was such a joy spending time with them. The purpose of my visit was to brighten their day, but they brightened mine as well!” Ballet Mistress Milena Leben also visited the hospital to meet some of the children being treated there. “It was touching to see their faces while they met a real ballerina,” states Leben. “You can really make a difference and brighten their day by just taking the time to visit with them and get to know them.” Free tickets to “Enchanted Evening” were given to children and parents alike to help spread the joy of dance!
“Enchanted Evening” will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 6:00pm at the University of Houston Clear Lake, Bayou Theatre with partial proceeds benefiting Texas Children’s Hospital. Tickets $15. For more information please call 281-480-8441.
