ALVIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE STRIVE SUMMER CLASSES 

These sessions are designed for students aged 15 and up with intellectual or developmental disabilities
STRIVING for Healthy Living
Tues & Thurs 1-3 pm
June 4-June 27

Students will learn how to independently meal plan, budget, grocery shop and make healthy decisions regarding diet. Students will also get food handler training to obtain a Texas Food Handlers Card.

STRIVE Olympics
Tues & Thurs 9am -12pm
July 16-Aug. 8, 2019
Students will learn about safe physical fitness activities for a healthy lifestyle. In addition, students will also organize and participate in an Olympic style event to promote fun and fitness

STRIVE STEM Camps

STEM 1
Wednesdays
June 5-26, 2019
1:00 – 3:00pm
Students will learn basic programming skills and how to use those skills interactively with a robotic building block system. Additionally, students will perform, study and analyze experiments in various STEM areas.

STEM 2
Wednesdays
July 10-31, 2019
1:00 – 3:00pm
Students will continue to learn basic programming skills and how to use those skills interactively with a robotic building block system. Additionally, students create digital games using basic scratch programming.
