How to Cope after a Disaster

GHFEDS would like to invite all our members for a parent educational meeting about how to cope after a disaster.

Hurricane Harvey has affected many people financially and emotionally. GHFEDS reached out to our families whose homes flooded and are displaced, we helped them with clean up, supplies and gift cards, but we realized that the parents and children are in desperate need of emotional support. We reached out to Kari Rote, ABA therapist from New Heights Pediatric Therapies to come talk to our members about coping after a disaster.

Kari will discuss how to best cope with the after effects of Hurricane Harvey within your family unit. She will discuss resources and strategies to decrease familial stress including special topics related to helping children with special needs coping such as social stories, routine building, volunteer services, and other resources.

Dinner and child care will be provided. Parents will be served pasta's, salad, bread sticks, dessert and drinks, children will be served pizza, fruit and drinks.
