GHFEDS has been invited to participate in the Pearland Alliance for Arts and Culture (PAAC) event, Art and Cultural Exchange between kids from GHFEDS in USA and kids from Integrar, The Down Syndrome Foundation of Honduras.

*Please read all information below and make sure you can attend the 2 mandatory events before registering.

The PAAC mission includes fostering cultural awareness and development for all.  It is in this spirit that this exchange was conceived.  Oftentimes children are the best storytellers.  Who better to explore similarities and differences than children. Our partner from Art & Kustom Kreations also shares cultural education in their directive, thus one of many reasons they are a perfect match for the program.

This event will offer a wonderful opportunity to make friends abroad and share a little of ourselves with the children and adults from the Down Syndrome Foundation of Honduras (FUNDACION INTEGRAR).  Web: www.fundacionintegrarhn.org

At present 9 children from Honduras completed artwork, reflecting something important to them.

The American counterparts are to paint/draw/sketch an image reflecting an aspect of themselves, and approval is to be provided for them to be photographed and or taped while working on their art in order to use some of these for display along with the Honduran art at the PAAC Gallery.  Each participant will need to sign a release for the use of their photos and artwork in advertising and viewing abroad in order for them to participate. The original artwork will not be returned to the artist, rather it will be sent to the Honduran Foundation for display.

A Skype conference is to be scheduled between the American and the Honduran participants.

Honduras is still a developing country and the Down syndrome population before FUNDACION INTEGRAR were denied many opportunities for social integration since an education and rehabilitation were not possible, and still battling to this day.
